I believe that the conditions of our society push us to disconnect from our authentic selves, relationships, communities, and the world around us. As a white, queer, non-binary, Ashkenazi Jewish, upper-middle class person born into generational trauma with multiple chronic health conditions, I am familiar with the experience of marginalization within systems of oppression and the experience of upholding systems of oppression - and believe both to be dehumanizing. I view healing as an ongoing process of reconnection that can take many forms: approaching our bodies with curiosity and care, allowing ourselves to expand to include all the parts of us, joining in community, and aligning our actions with our values to contribute to a world with less harm. My therapy practice is psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and committed to an abolitionist framework. I center curiosity, compassion, and consistency to build relationships where people may feel safe, supported, accepted, and whole. I feel incredibly grateful to do this work.
I am eager to join the KTC cohort to deepen my own healing, support other therapists in navigating the challenges of this work, and build our collective power and liberation as a community of radical therapists. Mariame Kaba says that everything worthwhile is done with other people. I am thankful to Onyx and Asher for creating this space and to a long lineage of subversive and transformative healers.
