Hi there! My name is Sam and I’m a queer, white, neurodivergent, non-binary femme originally from the Deep South. I’ve had the privilege of calling New York home for the last decade and currently work as a psychotherapist seeing clients both in-person and virtually. My private practice celebrates and centers the experiences of Queer, Trans, & gender-expansive folks and those seeking to explore new dimensions of their identity. My approach to therapy is a concoction of my own complex healing journey, lived experience navigating “othered” identities, 15 years of learning both in the classroom and in the community, and an endless flow of genuine curiosity. I practice utilizing frameworks that acknowledge the harm caused by larger social systems of oppression and embrace the depth of intersectionality, nuance, and contradiction. I believe that therapy is most powerful when we enter from a space to be witnessed and not “worked on” and will honor your experience from a non-pathologizing, non-judgmental lens. I encourage the unconventional and you can expect another wonderfully weird human in the room and on the journey with you.
I’ve found the most kindred connections working with older teens & emerging adults, LGBTQ+ & gender expansive people, sex workers & nightlife performers, those deconstructing conditioning, people who practice kink, BDSM, or non-normative relational structures, and all those seeking to embody ever-evolving, authentic versions of themselves.
When I’m not with clients, you can find me in the audience (and on occasion the stage!) at the local drag & burlesque shows. Or more often, shamelessly doting over my feline familiar, Tostones, who often joins my sessions and ostensibly runs my business & household.
