Off the Record:
a BIPOC Consultation Group for therapists of color
transitioning to private practice
Off the Record is a BIPOC Consultation Group for therapists of color transitioning to private practice, facilitated by Cyn Magaña, LCSW.
The purpose of this BIPOC Consultation Group is to support newly independently licensed therapists in their journey towards pursuing private practice through fostering a community that values creativity, authenticity, and professional growth. In this space we go, “Off The Record” sharing our unique perspective and undoing misaligned values we often encounter in systems that have caused ideological, institutional, interpersonal and internalized oppression.
This intimate consultation group is here to support you through a significant career milestone: celebrating your independent licensure and taking the next step towards private practice. We offer a collaborative space to embody your accomplishments, your unique approach, and envision the possibilities of starting your practice while staying true to yourself and your values. We do this through experiential discussion, skill building and leaning in community. This is how we support and heal one another as we strive towards libertory care work.
Applications will be read on a rolling basis. We will meet for a free consultation to ensure this feels like the right direction for you. Enrollment will close on or before September 30, 2024. Our consultation group will start on Thursday, October 10th, 2024 and conclude March 27th, 2025.

The following payment structure is inspired by and borrowed from the model of Bayo Akomolafe’s class We Will Dance With Mountains: Into the Cracks and Skin and Spine with Joanna Hedva at Corporeal Writing.
This program offers a sliding scale based on your relative financial standing. In an effort to reflect disparity in economic condition and access to wealth, the following payment system is designed for those with more wealth to help cover the costs of those with less access to wealth and resources. We trust your discernment of your current financial situation and how you fit into the global economic context.
As you decide what amount to pay, please consider your present-day financial situation governed by income, but also the following factors: historical discrimination faced by your peoples; your access to income and financial wealth, both current and anticipated (retirement, savings, investments, expectation of an inheritance; how easily could you earn more income compared to other people in your community, country, and world); people counting on your financial livelihood including dependents and community members; the socio-economic conditions of your locale (relative to other places in your country and in the world); your relationship to food & resource scarcity.
$1800 — Solidarity

$1300 — Community Care
An Early Bird discount of $100 OFF will be automatically applied
