Meet Lauren

Lauren Clapp, LCSW (NC/NY)

she/her

My name is Lauren Clapp (she/her), I am a clinical social worker and psychotherapist with a virtual private practice. I am physically located on unceded Lenape land, in Brooklyn, NY and am licensed to provide therapy to residents of New York State and North Carolina. Identities I hold include white, queer, femme, Leo, anti-Zionist Jew, recovering burnt out non-profit employee, and mom to a pitbull named David.

I strive to create a therapeutic space that is a non-pathologizing, authentic, and collaborative relationship, and draw from anti-oppressive and liberatory therapeutic approaches to uplift the expertise my clients bring to our treatment. I have specialized training in behavior therapy (including dialectical behavior therapy and exposure and response prevention therapy), mindfulness based therapy, and ketamine assisted psychotherapy. I have over a decade of experience as a professional care worker with sex workers, LGBQ folks, trans and gender expansive people, and those engaged in non-normative relationship practices such as kink, BDSM, and polyamory. As a therapy client myself, I know how invalidating it can feel to work with a provider who does not understand my identities or values. I am particularly drawn to provide affirming therapy to individuals who have had their own invalidating experiences with therapists in the past.
