Hello! My name is Ellison, and Iām a white, autistic, queer, non-monogamous, disabled, kinky and trans-nonbinary therapist living and working in Eastern Massachusetts (on unceded Agawam, Nipmuc, Pawtucket, and Wabanaki land). I believe in decolonizing therapy and building intersectional spaces for healing. My identities inform my work both through specific lived experiences and the ways those experiences have shaped my worldview. My goal in therapy is never to help people become "better" according to any one cultural group or diagnostic manual. Instead, I hope to explore each individual's deeply held values, beliefs, and identities and then work to dismantle the barriers--internal, structural, systemic, and generational--that hold us back from fully expressing that authentic self in the world.
I am first and foremost an existential therapist, and my practice is grounded in the belief that humans individually and collectively create meaning in our lives. I believe that both suffering and joy are core parts of a universal human experience, and as a therapist my role is to help each client navigate their suffering and fully embody their joy. While I integrate a variety of therapy models into my work, I am partial to existential therapy, IFS/parts work, and person-centered therapy. I hope to decenter the Western medical framework of therapy and offer the broadest possible range of what therapy "looks like"--healing and self-actualization exist not just in speaking out loud about our experiences, but in narrative, metaphor, art, music, movement, coregulation, community, play, communion with nature, and relationship. I strive to create a safe space for exploration and discovery--bring your whole self and show me how you heal.
