Chad Mosher, Ph.D. (AZ)
Counseling Psychologist
they/them
Hello! I am Chad living and working in Tucson, Arizona (unceded Tohono O’Odham land). I’m a Virgo sun, Taurus moon, and Pisces ascendant, a socialist Gen-Xer, and queer/nonbinary fat, goth, femme White person of Northern European (Germanic and Southern England) descent.
My therapy practice has changed over the past several years, and now integrates somatic work into liberation-based, psychoanalytic, humanistic/existential and feminist/multicultural frameworks. Much of my work is with transgender youth and adults, and their families/partners. Clients enter the therapy relationship with neurodivergent experiences, trauma, pluralism/dissociation, interpersonal distress and coping difficulties, and issues of oppression and suppression. It is difficult to write about my specific therapeutic approach because I am influenced by various approaches and philosophies, yet have also begun the process of unlearning and relearning practices that challenge white supremacy, emphasizes collective liberation, and focuses on the therapeutic relationship. For me, therapy centered the lived experiences and goals of the client and not the types of techniques I use –so I try to apply what I know, what we know together, and to work towards the client’s expression of needs and healing processes.
Credentials: Music degrees from Ithaca College and the University of Connecticut; Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Idaho State University; doctorate from The University of Memphis. I am a licensed psychologist in Arizona.
